The passing of Ellis is indeed sad, and she will surely be missed. Ellis was with Woodland Lanes for almost our entire 47 year run. She was a dear friend of ours and a great friend to all. She brought laughter, fun, and love to all those whose lives she touched. Ellis was a great storyteller and jokester, and with her Scottish accent everything was more interesting and funnier. She was a great employee and was loved by all her bowler friends and had a great time entertaining them.
Ellis was a people person and delighted in making them happy. She would listen to concerns and problems and offer motherly advice, especially to our younger workers. Nurturing a 15 year old lane attendant or an 18 year old new server into a valuable worker was one of her strong points, bringing them along to be confident and competent workers. She didn’t tell, she taught them how to do a task properly and have fun doing it. They all loved her.
Ellis was a kindhearted lady who enjoyed life, family, and friends. We will all miss her dearly. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Stewart, Heather, and all the grandkids.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 20th, beginning at 2:00 pm in Ellis's bar (the North) at Woodland.
